Install ESX in Vmware Workstation

Install ESX 3.5 in Vmware Workstation 6.5 This could be used to gain knowledge of ESX 3.5. You do not need to have ESX compatible server type hardware… Just your PC. You can run it in VMware workstation. If your PC has 4GB of RAM and at least dual core CPU you should be OK.

Open VMware workstation. New Virtual Machine. Custom. Next

Chose Workstation 6.5. Next.

I willl install the operating system later. Next

Other. Other version 64-bit. Next

 

selectlinnux   

Type the name of the ESX host. Browse to the location where you want to store the files. Next.

Minimum One Processor. Next

cpunumber

Increase RAM minimum to 1024. It will take forever to boot :) if you have possibility allocate more RAM. Next.

memory

Use Host-Only networking. Next

networktype 

LSI Logic (Recommended). Next.

adapter type

Create A New Virtual Disk. Next.

SCSI. Next

40GB. Enable Allocate all disk space now. Next

disksize 

Name the *.vmdk file. Next

Customize Hardware.

Remove Sound Card, Floppy. Add Network Adapter. Select Bridged, Connect at Power On. Finish.

Your final configuration should look this way. OK.

Browse to ISO image of ESX. Connect at power on. OK
